Martha Carney’s career embodies innovation and new product development in leadership positions within the pharmaceutial and energy industries. She has worked for companies including Eli Lilly & Company, Nicor, Inc. and DTE Energy and other research universities in positions that bring new services and product ideas to market.
Ms. Carney founded Outsourced InnovationTM, one of the leading product commercialization firms in clean technologies. The company is accomplished in building public/private sector collaboration for programs that foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.
Her expertise is in business development and brand strategy. Driven by that success, she has helped usher forward hundreds of businesses through coaching to make clients investor ready. She is accomplished in proof-of-concept and technology transfer and has authored 35 industry studies advancing solid-state lighting technologies.
Most recently, Martha is building a vital connection between North Central College and the regional business community. In that role, she has developed the brand strategy of ConVergeTM and CardinalLaunch – the College’s new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship that functions as a business accelerator.
Martha is an advocate for woman in technology and entrepreneurship as a means of self-employment. Through Bradley University, she was awarded the prestigious Roger Lumen Award for Project CEO – Helping Women Create Great Companies. Martha is among the Most Influential Women In Business in 2015 recognized by the Daily Herald.
She holds a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management, and is certified in New Product Development and Business Incubation. She has been married for over 32 years with 3 children and volunteers at the Dominican Literacy Center in Aurora.
